This is a very special one to me, so I want to share some of the story of it.

Back in 2022 I met Mestre Eden, leader of the percussions of Cortejo Afro in Salvador da Bahia, Brasil. Immediately we loved the idea of mixing our sounds, so the idea of a collaboration was born, but literally one day before I had to leave Salvador.

It took me some years to save the money and get ready to visit again. In late 2024 I finally could go and meet him and the artists; Now what to do?

The brand wyst generally represents interdisciplinary artworks that tent to overcome the limitations of genres and create new, powerful sounds, always focused on an immersive performance. Techno, dance and analogue instruments are some of the most featured materials alongside this journey.

I started developing a storyboard for a big video shoot, but time kept running as everybody used to be quite busy during the period of my stay. So we had to just get something done, in a quite improvised way (which is perfectly representing wyst to be honest).

So we set this studio recording session during my last days in Salvador, I literally called the dancers the night before that day, and there was the plan.

I didn't even have the time to organise a proper video recording, but I had my phone, so I just decided to capture the session in the most basic way. My focus was on creating the music anyways, but in order to have these rhythms poppin' we needed them to be played together with the dance, as this particular vocabulary belongs to the dancing. So the camera is more like a documentation of where the music comes from. As music follows the dance, interacts with it in a highly dependent way, the music itself doesn't make sense without the dancing.

Now this is what it is, for now. It feels like a demo for a big idea which yet needs to be developed. Trust me, I'm on it!
